PE Days

PE is on the following days and children must come to school in PE kit on those days.

Buttercup Class- Tuesday

Hedgehogs Class- Tuesday

Assemblies

Year 1 will attend Whole School Assembly on Mondays.

Story and Singing Assemblies will be on Tuesdays with Reception and Year 2.

Homework

Homework will be sent home on Friday and is due in the following Wednesday.

Please ensure your child has their reading book in school every day. Your child would benefit from reading every evening with an adult. Children will have access to books from our new school library and books for fluency practice.

Writing - Leaf

Writing –

This term, Year 1 have been developing their writing skills using the story Leaf as a stimulus. The children have enjoyed exploring the story and using it to inspire their own setting descriptions.

They have been working on sentence structure, focusing on writing clear sentences using finger spaces, capital letters and full stops. The children have also been using their sound mats to support their phonics and help them spell words independently.

They have been developing their vocabulary and learning how to add detail to their writing by describing what they can see, hear and notice. The children have worked hard to plan and write their own setting descriptions, applying the skills they have been practising throughout the term.

Poem - Little Bird of Hope

Poem 'Hope' -

In our first short week back, a busy two days, we explored the poem “Hope” and brought it to life through art. The children used their creative skills to paint their own feathers, choosing from the primary colours, before adding layers of coloured tissue paper to build up texture. It was a wonderful way to combine literacy and art, helping the children express their understanding of hope through colour and creativity.
